She was saying something about how things like that don't happen to someone like her. Mmm...but it did. And why not, she's a great actress. The thing is, people who win oscars ARE talented and beautiful people, and excel in their game, and that's why we look up to them. We strive in life to do well, do better and be inspired by great people. So, while humility is wonderful and admirable, there really should be little place for it when celebrating an oscar win.

I'm not suggesting Kate comes over all arrogant and egotistical, but rather just grateful and accepting of the accolade. I'm sure, like me, people love her down-to-earth persona, but she is a talented force (otherwise wouldn't have won the oscar), and therefore rather extraordinary. But we want extraordinary people to know that they are because otherwise what are we aspiring to?

The best Mascara?

Probably the best mascara I've ever bought is Bobbi Brown's Everything Mascara because it does everything it claims. My lashes really were thicker, longer and looked natural, plus it lasted for ages, so worth the money, in my opinion.

However, another ace mascara is Max Factor Masterpiece (also recommended by my friends), as it lengthens and curls! But doesn't last that long. I was using it almost everyday for a couple of months and it started to get a bit dried out. But great value for money.

Best natural product for removing mascara? Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser by Liz Earle. Really gentle and works on the most stubborn mascara but doesn't dry your eyes out. Johnson's 3 in 1 Dry/Sensitive Face Cleansing wipes are excellent when I come in late and need something fast.

My eyes, like the rest of me, aren't really keen on chemicals and I think natural cleansing products have to be the way forward, not just because they're kinder on our skin but also on the environment. I think there's more pressure on manufacturers now to use less chemicals, but it's really down to us, the consumer to put the pressure on by supporting natural product companies.

If you're anything like me, mascara is your number one makeup item, with blush being a close second. It's the only thing to open up those pee holes in the snow at 7.30am. And if this does happen you can also shape your eyebrows slightly to open up your eyes and face. (Ensure they're plucked and tidy). Always use an eyebrow pencil that's slightly lighter than your brow. And rather than draw it on, stroke it on gently and enhance your brow. In fact, I use Bourjois Liner Stylo in Brun 42, which is actually a long lasting eye liner but perfect for my brows! And as it's long lasting doesn't shift in the rain!
